Hotel: Alvaston Hall is a half-timbered country house with beautiful grounds and stylish rooms. With a rural setting on the outskirts of Nantwich, it makes a perfect base for exploring Cheshire’s pretty market towns and countryside. Tours of the gardens and grounds, activities such as archery and rifle shooting, a 20-metre indoor pool, gym, sauna, and bubble pool complete the relaxation experience.

Garden space: The main house looks on to the grounds, with a putting green, croquet and outdoor games area.

Market Kitchen in The Grove: The cabaret restaurant serves breakfast and three-course evening meals with both buffet and à la carte waiter service. It has a stage for live shows every night. In the summer you can expect afternoon performances on the Stables terrace. Caters for up to 497 guests.

Cheshire Barn Pub & Kitchen: The pub-style eatery serves British classics and local drinks. Caters for up to 100 guests.

The Squires lounge: Serves afternoon tea and drinks.

The Fountain bar: Open for hot and cold drinks, lunch, and cake throughout the day, plus quizzes and pre-dinner entertainment.

Interesting facts:

  • A Grade II listed Victorian property.
  • Unique blend of styles with Italian ironwork, Elizabethan square panelling and superb Georgian-style fireplaces and ceilings.
  • In the late 1890s, Alvaston Hall was bought by a wealthy Manchester industrialist who transformed it into a grand country house. It soon became the centre for Cheshire socialites.
  • On the original fireplace and stained glass window in main reception there is a message in Old Italian. It reads ‘To every bird, its nest is beautiful’.
  • The Spa includes a 20-metre pool, sauna, steam room, rooms where guests can enjoy a range of treatments and makeup in partnership with Temple Spa, Jessica and Mii Cosmetics.
