Bank holiday panic! Hotel chain identifies the day Brits book a last-minute August staycation
Looking to get away for the bank holiday weekend but left it to the last minute? Just make sure you book before 23 August as this is the day which sees a huge surge in late bookings, according to a national hotel chain.
Adult-only holiday provider, Warner Leisure Hotels, has revealed the date after finding a colossal surge in bookings every year for the past five years.
The spike in last-minute bookings always seems to occur on four days before the bank holiday weekend, with 50 per cent more bank holiday bookings made on this date than days in the previous week, and 57 per cent more than on the same day the week prior.
That makes 23 August the day the hotel chain expects to see a spike this year – so is encouraging last minute bookers to get in ahead of that date. Warner Leisure Hotels have last-minute breaks available from £359pp for 3 nights based on two people sharing.
Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels, said:
“We weren’t entirely surprised to see that holiday bookings spiked four days before the bank holiday over the past half-decade – for many people this long weekend sneaks up on them.
“After the year we’ve had, so many of us are looking to enjoy a well-earned break this August bank hol. Staycationers can rest easy as we do have some availability left across our 14 properties – but they’d better book fast, and certainly before that crucial peak date of 23 August!”
Warner Leisure Hotels operates 14 adult-only coastal and country properties across the UK, including Lakeside Coastal Village in Hampshire, Littlecote House in Wiltshire and Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire.
