“Get off the treadmill of life” says well-being expert after appetite for wellness retreats explodes

Relaxation has become a top priority for holiday-goers with searches for people seeking wellness retreats increasing by 83% in comparison to this time last year.

Health and wellbeing expert, Carlie Barlow, attributes the spike in people searching for ways to achieve the ultimate level of relaxation to wellbeing being taken more seriously. Unlike ever before, Carlie suggests the nation is starting to put themselves first, prioritising their own wellbeing over others, as feeling the need to truly switch off continues to become a daily struggle.

Carlie said: “Wellness retreats used to be seen as elitist and a luxury, however, they are now much more accessible which has increased the demand significantly, especially during this turbulent time we find ourselves in.

“Putting yourself first used to be seen as selfish, which has led to decades of people not taking proper care of themselves. We’ve had a turbulent few years, dealing with COVID and the ongoing cost of living crisis, which have taken their toll emotionally on the nation, even if people feel these issues haven’t directly impacted them.

“We all have so many responsibilities in our lives, and with social media creating a false reality, it’s important we learn how to switch off and get off the ‘treadmill of life’ every once in a while. Sometimes we may think we are doing this, but it can take a professional intervention to truly show what switching off means and provide the tools to be able to do so properly in the future.”

To facilitate people taking some time for themselves, Carlie has partnered with Warner Hotels, renowned for its short breaks exclusively for adults, to deliver a series of wellness retreats aimed at connecting with everyday people, not just enthusiasts, to truly pause for a moment of reflection.

“Working with Warner Hotels, we have designed a series of Wellness Retreats that will ensure people leave their breaks feeling educated and equipped with the tools to continue improving and investing in their wellbeing.”

The Wellness Retreat breaks have been carefully crafted with a series of webinars, workshops, and classes – including all-new gin yoga – to provide a chance to laugh out loud, while enjoying the nation’s favourite tipple. The Wellness Retreats offer a holistic overview of your well-being, with a choice of 40 invigorating activities on offer, including yoga at dawn, mindfulness, meditation and sound healing, guests can expect a truly transformative experience from sunrise to sunset that promises full mind, body, and soul rejuvenation.

Set within peaceful country estates, the breaks also channel unashamed indulgence with complimentary access to the hotel’s tranquil spa and leisure facilities as well as three-course dining and entertainment.

Matt Williams, head of leisure, at Warner Hotels said: “Nowadays that true moment of calm is hard to come about, which is why we have designed these Wellness Retreats as a complete break from everyday life. As well as taking part in meditation and wellbeing classes, you won’t have to do the day-to-day life admin such as cooking, cleaning, or struggling to find ways to stay entertained as we will take care of all this for you.”
