The Runnymede on Thames Hotel and Spa announces opening date
Warner Hotels, the UK’s leading adult-only hotel group, has announced that its newest hotel on the banks of the River Thames, The Runnymede on Thames Hotel, is now taking bookings ahead of its highly anticipated opening in the Autumn of 2024.
Located in Egham, just a 10-minute drive from Windsor, The Runnymede on Thames Hotel is currently undergoing a complete renovation after being purchased by Warner Hotels in March 2022, making it the 16th hotel in the group’s portfolio.
The multi-million-pound investment, combined with Warner’s unique adult-only short break proposition, is set to attract guests from across the UK looking for an entertainment and activity-filled break.
Known for its country and coastal settings and unique properties, The Runnymede on Thames is the first Warner Hotels’ property located in Greater London, and the first set on a river. With 205 rooms, decorated with characterful artwork that reflects the historical nature and natural beauty of the surrounding area, The Runnymede on Thames will also boast a riverside lounge, where guests can soak in riverside views, a choice of two restaurants, terraces to enjoy cocktails and a brand-new Live Lounge for live entertainment.
Building on Warner Hotels’ reputation for its spa and wellness offering, The Runnymede on Thames features a spa, state-of-art gym, studio room for fitness classes, a relaxation lounge, and an extended wellness programme. Furthermore, between the months of May to September (weather permitting) the hotel benefits from an outdoor pool with sun loungers.
For guests who want a more active staycation, there are a host of activities from tennis to archery and laser clay shooting on offer. Guests who normally visit London for musical theatre also won’t be disappointed, as the hotel will host a diverse programme of entertainment and production shows.
Nestled right on the banks of the River Thames, the hotel provides the perfect location to set sail and see the sights of nearby Windsor at a leisurely pace. Whether guests plan to spend an entire day exploring, or simply want to pop up the river for a pub lunch, there are a variety of boats available to suit all endeavours – and paddle boarding for the more adventurous!
The local ancient meadows and grounds are ideal for walks while soaking up the immense history of the area and the Thames towpath also provides the perfect place for a gentle scenic stroll amongst a variety of flora and fauna all year round.
Surrounding the hotel are many fascinating and historical sites, such as the royal residences of Windsor Castle and Frogmore House, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace, Ascot Racecourse. Additionally, just a 40-minute walk along the Thames you can visit the historical site where King John witnessed the sealing of the Magna Carta.
Other nearby highlights include Windsor Royal Shopping centre, Savil Gardens, Mercedes-Benz World, Swinley Forest, and Virginia Water Lake.
Tony Roberts, chief commercial officer at Warner Hotels, said: “We’re delighted to be launching sales for The Runnymede on Thames this November. We’re certain our newest hotel will prove popular, and we can’t wait for guests to enjoy the beauty that its riverside location offers.
“With a Warner break, we know our guests expect everything they could wish for to enjoy grown up ways to have fun - from activities to top-class entertainment, guests are free to choose how they spend their day. With this in mind, we are curating our latest property to ensure there is something for every kind of staycationer.”
Breaks are available to book online at warnerleisurehotels.co.uk/hotels/the-runnymede-on-thames from 29 November, and guests are urged to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
