A national hotel chain is taking staycations to another level this summer by bringing back the magic of theatre with a Shakespearean classic.

Warner Leisure Hotels is inviting guests to experience the iconic story of Romeo and Juliet after launching its brand-new outdoor theatres this year, set perfectly against a backdrop of the group’s beautifully British country hotels.

The group is well-versed in the entertainment world, hosting the likes of celebrity singers Lulu and Jane McDonald, as well as much-loved comedy duo The Hairy Bikers. Its Romeo and Juliet production will be stealing the spotlight across July and August, along with a triage of other exciting acts.

The centuries-old country hotels are rich in history and have been eyewitness to many love stories – Henry VIII once famously courted Jane Seymour at Littlecote House Hotel, one of the popular manors set to host the production. Guests can also enjoy the performance at Holme Lacy House, in Herefordshire and Cricket. St Thomas, in Somerset – where some may recognise as ‘Grantleigh Manor’ from the classic 80’s sitcom ‘To the Manor Born’.

Taking centre stage will be the multi award-nominated Immersion Theatre group, bringing to life the unforgettable spectacle of drama, comedy and tragedy between star-crossed lovers.

Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels, said: “It’s been an incredible few months since we opened our doors in May, and we have so many exciting things lined up for the summer.

“We’re always investing in new ways to create that unforgettable experience for our guests at Warner – for most of us, it feels like a lifetime ago since we were able to enjoy going to the theatre. Our mission has always been to ensure that our stunning properties are not only a place to come and relax, but we’re also somewhere to explore and just have some fun!”
