More Than Just a Hotel - The Runnymede on Thames

Warner Hotels launches new proposition, with sensory TV ad and Lisa Snowdon partnership showcasing its short breaks as ‘more than just a hotel’

The UK’s leading provider of short breaks exclusively for adults, has unveiled a new premium proposition highlighting the elevated guest experiences on offer at two of its properties.

Reserve, by Warner Hotels includes two unique and sophisticated destinations – flagship riverside retreat, The Runnymede on Thames in Windsor and the 300-year-old Grade II listed Heythrop Park in the Cotswolds.

To announce the new proposition, the brand has launched a creative campaign backed by research revealing that 89 per cent of the British public believe the overall experience of a short break is so much more than just the hotel itself – from the setting and the service to the facilities and entertainment.

Highlighting the richness of the experiences on offer, the immersive ‘More Than Just a Hotel’ campaign headlines with a sensory TV advert showcasing the unique Reserve, by Warner Hotels properties.

Featuring ASMR-style audio and visuals to evoke an emotive response from viewers, the ad highlights the little moments of joy and discovery experienced on a short break at Warner Hotels – from award-winning spas and indulgent dining to exhilarating activities and world-class entertainment.

Immersing viewers in the things that make a short break truly unforgettable, the ad, a culmination of deep strategy work completed by Birmingham-based consultancy NOKAMO, and created in partnership with Director Michael J Ferms and The Gate, is filled with moments of intrigue and delight to demonstrate the richness and variety of the offering.

Playful language highlights the ‘more than just a hotel’ message throughout, with rhyming words merged with ‘hotel’ to showcase different elements of a short break – such as ‘going with the flow-tel’, ‘making you say woah-tell’ or ‘unwinding head-to-toe-tel’.

Central to the campaign narrative are Warner Hotels’ colleagues, with team members from The Runnymede on Thames and Heythrop Park featuring in the campaign to create a personal and authentic touch. The team-focused angle amplifies the ‘more than just a hotel’ message by highlighting the exceptional service and passion of team members.

Alongside the TV ad, the brand has also teamed up with TV and radio presenter, Lisa Snowdon to announce her appointment as Warner Hotels’ first ever ‘Chief Joy Officer’. The partnership, which will be amplified through PR and social media will see Lisa at the recently opened hotel, The Runnymede on Thames discovering the many things that bring people joy on a short break, further reinforcing the campaign message.

David Murdin, Chief Marketing Officer at Warner Hotels, said: “Over the past year we’ve been refining our brand proposition to outline how each of our hotels are uniquely positioned to both our core customers and emerging target audiences.

“As part of this, we identified The Runnymede on Thames in Windsor and Heythrop Park in the Cotswolds as our flagship properties, leading to the creation of Reserve, by Warner Hotels – unique locations offering elevated experiences for our guests through exceptional locations, dining, service and entertainment.

“Our ’more than just a hotel’ campaign was designed to bring to life those joyful moments in a more immersive way for our guests, putting them right at the heart of the action and showcasing the wonderful experiences you can have on a revitalising short break.

“Supporting our TV ad with the Lisa Snowdon partnership helped us to elevate this message further by showcasing the many things people love about a short break in a fun and entertaining way – demonstrating a Reserve, by Warner Hotels break as more than just a hotel.”

The TV ad is part of a fully integrated, multi-channel marketing campaign, spanning TV, VoD, YouTube, social media, display ads, email, direct mail, and paid search.

Reserve, by Warner Hotels is now live on the brand’s website and currently includes The Runnymede on Thames in Windsor and Heythrop Park in the Cotswolds.
